Using VR Sync

Using VR Sync

VR Sync allows you to remotely start a synchronized VR experience on as many VR headsets as you like, from your laptop, tablet, PC or phone. The only thing you will need is an internet connection to connect your VR devices to and your laptop, PC or phone. This does not have to be the same internet connection, as long as both the VR headsets and your remote device have an active internet connection. The videos will still be downloaded locally to all VR headsets, so it is only a signal that tells the VR headsets to start playing the video that is being sent over the internet. Therefore it is not required to have a dedicated internet connection. The only requirement is that all devices are connected to an active internet connection.

The VR Sync functionality is included in all EZ360 plans, even the free plan! For more information about VR Sync in general, see our VR Sync information page.

In this article we explain how VR Sync works within EZ360.

Step 1: Login to your EZ360 account and go to the VR Sync section

If you have registered an EZ360 account, you can login and go to the VR Sync section via the menu on the left.

Step 2: Select a playlist (if you have 2 or more playlists)

If you have only 1 playlist, this step is skipped. If you have created several playlists, you will have to select from which playlist you would like to organize a VR Sync session for. See this article on how to create playlists.

Step 3: Select a video (if you have 2 or more videos)

If you have only 1 video, this step is skipped. If you have uploaded several videos, you will have to select which video you would like to organize a VR Sync session for. See this article on how to upload content.

Step 4: Select one or more VR headsets

Next, you need to select the VR headsets that are connected to your account and that you would like to start the VR experience for. Make sure that the VR headsets are turned on, connected to the internet, EZ360 is running and the headsets are paired to your account. Also, if you have several playlists, make sure to select one of the available playlists in the VR headset to go to the “EZ360 part” of the application. If a headset is not available for VR sync, you will get notified about this in the VR Sync screen.

Step 5: Open the Waiting Screen

To inform your viewers that the VR experience is about to start, move all the headsets into the waiting screen by pressing the “Open Waiting Screen” button. Now you can also see for all your devices whether they have successfully received the signal, which is indicated by the status “Synced”, see the image below. These headsets are now ready to play the VR experience, once you press the play button.

You can upload a custom 360 degree waiting screen at the “settings” section in the EZ360 portal.

Step 6: Play the VR experience simultaneously on all VR headsets

Press the play button to start the VR experience that was selected in step 3 on all VR headsets that were selected in step 4.

Using the pause and stop button, you will have the ability to control the VR headsets remotely. You can also move all headsets back to the waiting screen, or select some other headsets to start another VR experience for another group of VR headsets. If you click on the “EXit VR Sync” button, all selected devices will exit VR Sync and go back to the regular EZ360 application.

Playing different videos to different VR devices simultaneously with VR Sync

1. Select a video to play on the first device
2. Select the device
3. Hit the play button (or firstly the Cinema waiting screen button)
4. Deselect the device (important!)
5. Select the other video to play
6. Select the other device
7 Hit the play button (or firstly the Cinema waiting screen button)

And repeat this for all your devices if needed (make sure that all devices are logged in into EZ360).
